| Julius
Mogashoa was a young man with an intellectual disability.
He lacked self-confidence and was angry at the world.
At Sparrow, he found a home. He settled in well and began
working hard. We encouraged him to attend counseling sessions
at RAU University. It was during those sessions where
he was able to open up about the difficulties he was having
at home. From then on Julius progressed in leaps and bounds.
We soon discovered that he had a talent for beading. On
graduating, we offered him an opportunity to become part
of our graduate programme at Sparrow including a learner support unit. Four
months later, his commitment to his work caught the attention
of a sound company in Johannesburg. They offered him a
full time job. Reports on him sung his praise and we are
proud to learn that he has just been promoted. Well Done
Julius, you are an example to us all.

Lyn Eagar continues to do wonders in the gardens at Sparrow.
With the opening of the new Skills workshops her workload
has dramatically increased. However, thanks to the contributions
from AECI, United Mushroom, Johannesburg City Parks and
Johannesburg Water, Lyn has started to turn our gardens
wild into something wonderful. |
